Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees C (360 degrees F).

  2. Whisk the honey, lemon juice, cornflour, garlic powder, soy sauce, ginger and vegetable oil in a large bowl until well combined.

  3. Add the prawns and make sure all of them are coated in that marinade.

  4. If you are using wooden skewers instead of metal skewers, soak them in water for about a few minutes. This will prevent them from burning in the oven.
  5. Thread 3 prawns on each skewer.

  6. Line a baking tray with baking paper, transfer your prawn skewers on the tray, then bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes.

Recipe Notes

  • You can marinate the prawns for several hours or overnight if you wish, depending on how much time you have.
  • If you're interested in other marinades, you can check out my Chicken Tikka Masala recipe and use the marinade in that post for these prawns.
  • And since Thai flavoured prawn skewers are popular, here is a link to a list of Thai marinades: The Spruce Eat - Thai Marinades
  • If fresh prawns are a little too expensive for you, you can buy a bag of frozen raw prawns and then defrost them in warm water. As soon as the prawns are defrosted, drain them dry them on some kitchen paper.
  • You can pan fry or grill the prawns on the skewers over high heat instead of baking them in the oven. They should take no longer than 2 minutes on each side (make sure the pan or griddle pan is nice and hot before cooking the prawns). Grilled prawn skewers can be great for BBQ's.
  • To prevent wooden skewers from burning, place them in water for a few minutes before threading on the marinated prawns. Or just use metal skewers instead if you have them.
  • This Vegetable Fried Rice, or this Soba Noodle Bowl Meal Prep Recipe would work wonderfully with these prawns.
