Slow Cooker BBQ Pork

Spare ribs cooked in a slow cooker until lovely and tender. Flavoured with an amazing BBQ sauce.

  1. Whisk your tomato ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, garlic cloves, smoked paprika, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and salt in a large bowl.

  2. Put your spare ribs in the slow cooker, pour your bbq marinade on top, then mix the ribs through the bbq sauce, making sure they are well coated.

  3. Close the lid of the slow cooker, and cook the ribs on low for at least 8 hours.

  4. Once the ribs are cooked and beautifully tender, take them out of the slow cooker and then pour the remaining liquid in a pot.

  5. Skim the excess fat floating above the juices in the pot, and then bring those juices to a boil.

  6. Boil for about 10-15 minutes stirring every couple of minutes, and continue to boil until the sauce is reduced by half.

  7. Once your bbq sauce that is nice and thick, brush it over your ribs and then serve.

Recipe Notes

  • You can cook these ribs in the oven instead of the slow cooker if you wish, read the "Can you cook these ribs in the oven?" part of the post.
  • Just about any form of a cooked potato will go well with these bbq ribs. You can check out this Ultimate Guide on Cooking Potatoes post to prepare any potato side you wish.

  • Feel free to use beef ribs instead of pork ribs.
  • You don't have to use spare ribs either, baby back ribs will also be fine.
  • If these are any other herbs, spices etc. that you think should be added to the bbq sauce, please don't hesitate to alter the recipe to your liking.
