I edit other peoples food photos in the style that they want. I can also use other peoples shots to make collage style photos, such as step by step photos, before and after photos and comparison photos.
Feel free to check out my portfolio before you read on.
And you know the saying, you eat with your eyes first. Throughout my photography journey, I noticed that it’s one thing to take a good photo, but it’s another thing to edit a photo effectively too. The way you crop the photo, the way you manipulate the colour, the lighting, the shades etc. all make a huge difference!
Regular Photo Edit
So a regular edit is where I elevate the shot through editing, but also touch up on things that need fixing or improving. I find the best cropping, clean up any distracting parts of the photo that shouldn’t be there, work on the lighting, smooth out any grain and more. However, before I edit anything, we will go over how you want your photo to be edited. Do you want the photo to be light and fun, dark and dramatic, have soft smooth tones or harsher more intense tones? This is what we can discuss over E-mail before I start editing your photo.
Here are some examples of how I have edited my photos in the past:
And remember, this is only how I like my photos edited. I really focus on showing off and highlighting certain elements of the photo, I remove colour hues that I don’t think are necessary and I give the photos quite an intense and dramatic style. However, since this may not be the style you’re into, we’ll discuss what style you prefer.
I am currently charging $10 per regular photo edit.
Side by Side Photos
So if you’re a food blogger, foodie Instagramer or anything around those lines, and you want to compare 2 types of products, or maybe you want to do this in a more informational style. These side by side style photos can be very effective. Or perhaps you want to present a before and after photo. For example, a dish in its raw state, then showing how it should look in its cooked state. A side by side photo can be great for this too!
Regular Fritters and Gluten Free Fritters
So here we have a comparison collage. And in this particular example, I wanted to show how gluten-free flour affects the final result of a fritter compared to regular flour. As you can see, a side by side style photo can present this very effectively. You could also use this kind of photo to show what something should or shouldn’t look like. For instance, an overcooked final product vs a well cooked final product.
Nutritional Information of Potato and Sweet Potato
Side by side collages can be great for informational photos too! As you can see, presenting the nutritional information this way makes it much easier for the viewer to break down and it’s also eye-grabbing. Very effective for social media and blog posts.
Un-toasted and toasted garlic bread
Now here we have a before and after photo of garlic bread that went from un-toasted to toasted. Again, this can be great if you want to show what a final product should look like.
Before and after photos will cost $15. However, if you don’t require the photos to be edited then I will only charge $10.
Step by Step Photos
So these types of collages can create clarity for your viewers if they’re not exactly sure what to do when attempting to make a recipe. And if you’re a food blogger, they can make your posts look nice and presentable, and they are great for SEO! I find that they are very effective when you find it tough to explain a step by step process through only using words. Perhaps you want to visually show how the whole dish is created, or maybe you only want to know how 1 part of the dish was created.
Here are some examples of step by step photos I have created for my posts.
Veggie Filled Sushi
So, I charge step by step photos starting at $15 for 3 photos. Every added photo that you don’t require me to edit will cost an extra $1, every added photo that you require me to edit will cost an extra $2.
